The very fine alluvial clay applied to the surface of all tierra negra™ cookware and tableware is carefully polished with semi-precious stones like Tiger’s Eye before firing in the kiln. It is the finesse with which the glaze is polished which distinguishes the best produce. Quite unlike manufactured vitreous glazes, the tactile finish of a “slip” glaze as potters call it, adds to the pleasure of using the product for serving and eating from at the table.
